Auckland, NZ
Looking out over Auckland Bay towards Mount Rangitoto.
We don’t do this very often, but there are a number of pictures that we’ve taken around Auckland that just don’t have much of a story to them, but are still pretty cool. Here they are for your viewing pleasure!
Silly Kiwis! They’re called “shopping carts”!
Entering Auckland from the north.
Downtown Auckland as seen from the top of Mount Eden.
“Do not enter the crater”?! What crater?
Oh, the one that is the ‘extinct’ volcano that is Mount Eden! We lived a few blocks from here for about a month or so…
You can see the Sky Tower from almost anywhere in Auckland!
(It is, after all, the tallest building ((in the southern hemisphere))
Top of the Skytower – Is this supposed to make us feel better about the glass or worse about the concrete!?
An old America’s Cup boat down by the Viaduct harbor. Auckland is “The city of sails” and New Zealanders are into their sailing.
Here are some views from Auckland’s city parks. Keep an eye out for more volcanoes in the backgrounds!
If you haven’t figured it out yet, we really do love Auckland. We have many reasons for this, not the least of which is that it’s a city that smells as good as it looks.
Greg and Tiffany are traveling around the world on sailing yachts and keep a video blog of their (mis)adventures. If sailing to Tahiti on a 44 ft sailboat, 3-day delays for wine tastings, getting pooped on by seagulls, opening coconuts with dull machetes, sailing past tornadoes and ukulele Christmas carols are for you, then check them out at www.CoastGuardCouple.com!
