Blizzard of Independence

Jindabyne, New South Wales, Australia

So a quick jump ahead and a bit of a preview of what’s to come:

We spent the 4th of July in Australia which worked out really well being as our Australian friends had access to things that light on fire and we, as Americans, could provide them with an excuse to use said things that light on fire while consuming beer…all in the name of international friendship.  It should be noted though that this ain’t the Australian outback you’ve been expecting.

Disembodied Audience Voice: “uh guys? Was that a blizzard in Australia?”

Us: “Yes, well July is in the middle of winter in the Southern Hemisphere.  They do some stuff backwards around here.”

Disembodied Audience Voice: “…in Australia? It snows there!?”

Us: “Yeah, freaking sweet, eh!?”

(PS – and to all you Canadians out there, happy belated Canada day! Or as we like to now think of our two birthdays, “North America Week!”)

They didn’t have a US flag at the ski resort, so we had to improvise.

Happy 4th of July everyone!  Have a hotdog for us!

It was just as fun as, but a far cry from last year when we spent our July 4th at the Bora Bora Yacht Club!

  1. Still weirds me out that you guys are in snow. Seriously. AND I’m jealous you can go skiing/snowboarding right now lol.

Looks like you had fun! 😀
